This 1959 book is simply diviiine, if you ask me. I bought it at Van Dijk en Ko in Amsterdam-Noord, which is now across from Neef Louis (both of which I highly recommend).
And best of all: it was only €4,-! I KNOW!…

From chapter 2, Crisp!: “Here’s a general guideline for the crisp mode of dressing: If the cut of the garments is fairly traditional-and it should be-when the colors of the individual garments are only moderately innovative, the overall effect of the outfit will be crisply moderate. However, if any one garment is strongly innovative in style or color, then a more traditional garment is required to strike a moderate balance. Moderate innovation in all the pieces is the surest and easiest way to capture this style, because balancing acts (like juggling) can be tricky. On the other hand, perfectly executed balancing acts sometimes earn standing ovations.”
